LAMBediSM

Overview

LAMBediSM is a technology invisible to the end user. It supports internal business applications while placing no demands on the user. It provides the means for exchanging data between systems in a 24/7 environment. These systems can be external with your trading partners, or internal within your own operations.

LAMBediSM is designed to have minimal impact to internal systems. All transfers of data between LAMBediSM and business applications are by data files. This is to minimize the level of integration between LAMBediSM and internal core systems as well as provide a measure of isolation for LAMBediSM because of its transmissions by email over the Internet.

Trading partners exchange electronic messages directly with each other through their LAMBediSM system installed at their operations. There is no "holding tank" or "repository" between trading partners holding the transactions.

One of the most significant differences between LAMBediSM and other, more traditional EDI or X12 translation systems is that the business rules or requirements for the data stays local to the system or trading partner with those requirements. This insulates the sender from maintaining the ever-changing rules for each of its trading partners. LAMBediSM does this by executing the rules for the data on the receiver side of the exchange, not at the sender side. This has many benefits including:

• higher transaction throughput for the sender since little or no processing of the data is necessary before transmission,
• increased reliability since the rules for the receiver are kept at the receiver to manage and dramatically simplifies EDI as the rules for the receiving system is kept only in one place- at the receiver.

For traditional EDI systems, all the senders must know all the rules for all trading partners so that each receiver gets the "right" file. For LAMBediSM, senders are unconcerned as the actual translation of the data is performed at the receiver. The only requirement is that the sender and the receiver have "complementary" systems- meaning that the sender can provide data sufficient for the receiver to process successfully.

To make sure there is no ambiguity of the data in the transmissions, LAMBediSM sends the specification on how to interpret the data file from the sender with each transmission. The receiver’s LAMBediSM system then matches the sender’s specification with its own specification to create the data file that can be processed successfully by the receiver’s internal system. With this real time, dynamic application of the rules to the data each time it is received, the receiver can change the rules, the specifications and even the internal systems at any time, with no impact to the sender.

LAMBediSM conforms to popular Internet standards for robust and commonly supported communications. LAMBediSM uses SMTP and POP3 Internet protocols to send and receive transactions. Therefore, it behaves as a regular client for all popular email servers supporting SMTP and POP3. MAPI is also supported. Each LAMBediSM transaction is uniquely identified so that LAMBediSM will automatically ignore messages it cannot process such as internal LAN administrator status broadcasts and spam. Each transaction is a data file from your systems that is encrypted and attached to a standard email with no text in the body.
